Transfusion Reaction Specimens (Microbiology)
Blood Bag
Remains of the unit being transfused.Depends on the type and severity of the reaction. Clinical staff will send specimens as appropriate.
Blood Cultures and a Post Transfusion Urine sample should also be collected from the patient and sent to Microbiology for culture and urinary haemoglobin screening.
