Specimen Collection

Pre Testing Requirements

1. Haematology referral required.

2. Specimens should be sent to Cytogenetics Waikato DHB laboratory for processing and slides of cultured cells/chromosomes dispatched for FISH analysis.

Adult Specimen

2 ml Bone marrow aspirate. 4 ml Heparin (Dark green - non gel) whole blood. Do not centrifuge or freeze.

Paediatric Specimen

2 ml Bone marrow aspirate. 4 ml Heparin (Dark green -non gel) whole blood. Do not centrifuge or freeze.

Sample Delivery to Lab

Ambient on day of collection. Refrigerate overnight or weekend then send ambient.
