Interpretation

Peadiatric reference intervals are based on the CALIPER database, which was determined using the Abbott Architect platform. These reference intervals have been adapted for the Roche e411 assay and are only approximate.

Additional Information

All samples with a level above the reference interval will be automatically tested for the presence of macroprolactin twice. Samples are tested for macroprolactin using polyethylene glycol (PEG) precipitation. PEG precipitates any large (inactive) forms of the prolactin molecule. The PEG prolactin result is thought to reflect the amount of "active" prolactin present.

Minimum Volume

0.3 mL serum or heparin plasma
