Multiple Myeloma
>10% plasma cells in BMA
2 ml Bone marrow aspirate in RPMI
Ambient on day of collection. Refrigerate overnight or weekend then send ambient.
Cytogenetics
Urgent 5 days, Non-urgent 18 days
Flourescence in situ hybridisation (FISH) on CD138 isolated plasma cells with probes for 1p/1q gain or loss, IGH/FGFR3 t(4;14) rearrangement and TP53 deletions with reflex testing to IGH/CCND1 rearrangement also available
