Blood lead testing is referred to Canterbury Health Laboratories. Turnaround time is 7 days

Whole blood lead levels equal to or greater than 0.48 µmol/L, from non-occupational exposure, must be notified to the Medical Officer of Health (Updated August 2007). Notification is the responsibility of the doctor treating the patient. With occupational exposure, a whole blood level of 2.4 µmol/L or greater, must be notified to the Department of Labour (Workplace Services - formerly OSH)
