A dedicated blood tube is always required.
1x EDTA (purple) dedicated to test (only one tube needed for JAK2/CALR/MPL testing)
Mon - Fri, 0800 - 1630 excl. Public Holidays
Do not test for JAK2 mutations without first consulting with a Haematologist.
JAK2 mutations are associated with the myeloproliferative disorders; polycythaemia vera (PV), essential thrombocythaemia (ET) and myelofibrosis. Testing may be indicated in the presence of sustained erythrocytosis (Hb > ULN) and/or thrombocytosis (platelets >600) if not explained by other causes (for example chronic hypoxia, inflammation). Venous thrombosis (particularly mesenteric) is occasionally associated with these conditions.
