Testing is restricted to endocrinologists for patients with unexplained hyperthyroidism. Urinary iodine is useful to assess whether a POPULATION is likely to be iodine deficient due to low iodine intake in the population. Urinary iodine reflects recent intake and does not reflect iodine stores in an INDIVIDUAL.
