We’re seeing a wide diversity of respiratory viruses in the Waikato at present and anecdotally increased numbers of children presenting with more severe illness. The traditional Influenza and RSV are still absent. We have run out of our standard extended virus panels tests and need to use an accurate but less efficient system, batch testing every few days, so there will be delays getting results for some specimens.
