Waikato SARS-CoV-2 Lab testing report 2021 full year

7 January 2022

This is an overview of Waikato COVID-19 testing results for 2021.

Testing has been characterised by huge day to day fluctuations in numbers required.

COVID-19 epidemiology in the Waikato has been characterised by localised spread, with effective control of outbreaks.

These are data extracted from our lab information system, mostly for monitoring epidemiology, so are presented by specimen collection date and count positive patients rather than by positive samples.  Official figures on Waikato test numbers are extracted by DHB analysts and notified cases are also reported by the Ministry of Health from a national database, so will vary a little from the numbers here.
