Waikato Respiratory Virus Report 2021 full year

This is for the viruses other than SARS-CoV-2.

It was an interesting year, with RSV returning to NZ.

Other viruses such as Rhinovirus, PIV4 and hMPV showed distinct seasons, which I’ve tried to relate to COVID countermeasures, in addition to the traditional climatic patterns.

Influenza has not yet come back to the Waikato and an intense epidemic is likely when it does.
